Nestled at the very end of a peaceful cul-de-sac in Newton Abbot, our Training & Respite House offers a calm and supportive environment for service users looking to transition to supported living or supported care.
Our Mission: At the Training & Respite House, we are dedicated to empowering individuals to achieve their fullest potential. Our service-user-centred approach is tailored to each person’s unique needs, helping them develop essential skills for independent living.
What We Offer:
- Personalized Assisted Care: Our compassionate staff work closely with service users to create customized care plans that focus on their individual goals and aspirations.
- Skill Development: We provide hands-on training in various aspects of daily living to help service users gain confidence and independence.

- Shopping Skills: Service users learn to organize shopping lists, manage money, and make smart purchases, fostering financial independence and practical life skills.
- Culinary Skills: From understanding recipes to sourcing fresh ingredients and cooking delicious meals, service users gain valuable culinary experience.
- Housekeeping: Our training covers all aspects of maintaining a clean and tidy home, including sweeping, vacuuming, doing laundry, and making beds.
- Health and Safety: Service users are taught to use household appliances safely, prepare food hygienically, and store chemicals properly, ensuring a safe living environment.
Your Journey, Your Way: We begin by discussing each service user’s goals and what we can provide to meet their needs and abilities. Alternatively, you can bring your own staff and use the house as a fully-equipped training facility.
